I just bought a 1987 23" Hunter sail boat and I am also new to sailing. I would like to replace the light blue and dark blue stripes and hunter logo on both sides of the cabin does anyone know where I can get this? Does Hunter Marine still make these? Also I am thinking of refinishing the teak in the cabin area should I use oil or Polyurethane? thanks, Russell

Graphics for hunter

Russell, My wife and I just bought a Hunter 23 on which the graphics are in bad shape too. We own a vinyl graphics business and will be recreating the graphics for our boat in the next couple of weeks. We'll can easily make you a set as well. Drop me an email at ja_ke@teamseacats.com (remove the '_').

Hunter Font is Albertus

Jake, Just FYI and to save you some trouble. The Hunter font is called Albertus Medium. I know this because I called Hunter to get the font name. I then had my registration numbers made in the same font so all lettering is the same font (including boat name). The thing to note is that Albertus Medium has sharp intersection points. The sign maker had to change the intersection points to rounded. Not quite sure of the printer terminology he used.

Jake saw the graphic for your boat

You website is awsome, love the pics. Also saw the graphic, for your boat name and was wondering if you could make up one in the same style for my wife and I. The name of our boat is the SasSea(read Sassie) my wifes nick name. If you could please contact me. Sonny and Vanessa Sticker stick6269@charter.net

Decals Needed

Our boat name is Miss Liberty, I would love to put the name on the boat in Red, White and Blue, any idea on where I could go to get this done for a reasonable price?

Go to the BoatUS website and get the phone/e-mail for their graphics dept. and talk to a real human being. They are most helpful and their stuff is good.

Any sign shop can do graphics

Let your fingers do the walking and look under signs in the yellow pages. Any sign shop that does computer graphics can do the lettering. I had my registration numbers done and it cost $15 for a set and the guy threw in a spare set if I botched the job.

I used yachtsee.com

I used http://www.yachtsee.com - you can do previews, try different styles and the sumbit quotes (I ran a ton of them and they are very, very patient! :) ) The vinyl was very good quality, the instructions were excellent and they are very easy to work with. Dave Crowley s/v Wind Dreamer

regarding interior teak

Russell, I used a product by SEMCO, its a two part solution (activator/deactivating cleanser) on the interior to get rid of the mold and any other stuff that grew while the previous owner had the boat sitting on the hard. Then I simply used teak oil after everything had a night to dry. I re-oil once in the beginning of the season and everything still looks brand new with little fuss...about polyurethane upkeep, well I'd rather not find out...just my opinion Brian C H23 kickin' back
