What type of transmission oil does my new to me 2011 Hunter 50 require? I think it's Dextron ATF, but I can't read the plate on the transmission until the weekend and then want to change the fluid.

Our P42 Kanzaki plate says ATF. May be different than yours. Defer to the plate. Ours took about one quart to reach the full mark. How many hours on the current fluid? Doubt that a few weeks will make a difference. Take a bottle of ATF with you. Chances are that is what yours takes.
My boat was just delivered from Florida to Long Island so its due for a change. I spoke with a marine transmission expert, Rick Neary who advises Dexron III for the KBW21 clutch plate transmission.
Sounds as though you're good to go. The PO of our boat used engine oil in the Kanzaki of our boat sometime before we purchased her in 2002. Last year was the first year I replaced that engine oil with ATF. Speaks volumes about the quality and durability of the Kanzaki tranny.
Our boat was delivered in 2001 with ATF in the Kanzaki KM tranny and every time we checked (every 2 months) the level we had to add a little. Finally got a hold of a shop manual that recommended 30 weight motor oil and have not had to add any oil between checkups anymore.
On my boat I followed the instructions the manufacturer stamped on the transmission plate...ATF, FWIW.
