Columbia C-45 San Diego
We are considering buying a new 50CC in about 1 to 2 years, we currently have a Columbia C-45 but would like more room and storage. We like the 50CC but would like to hear from present owners about the pros and cons of this model. Also:

Do you recommend the 110hp option? I think for this size boat it is a good idea.

Which sails did you pick from the different options and why?

If you would please share what you'd change if you where buying a 50CC today.

Thank you.

we had a 42 CC by Hunter and found it to be the cat's meow for us. The 50, while nice was just more boat than the two of us wanted to handle. So we have stayed with the 42 and are quite happy as we like the older build "quality" and styling than what is being produced today.

We sailed a new one 4 or 5 years back and it was a different "bigness" than what we were used to, but I am sure with some one on one with a captain experienced with the bigger boat, we would be fine.

Best of luck on what you decide.

Best value for the money by far.
Well built, and engineered.

We have a Hunter 45CC - we just love it. It is our Condo on the water. Large after cabin like a hotel room. Easy to sail (using Mack Sail furling main). Can sail it alone. Autopilot, electric windlass and bow thruster are essential. You need these tools when you want to sail in your older age.

Good luck!

We also have the Hunter45CC. ABSOLUTELY love it. We do not have a bow thruster but wish we did. Might be an upgrade for us for the future. We sail the Great Lakes, no tides very little current, with her 75HP engine she runs a steady 7.3 knots. If I had it all to do again, she would still be the boat I'd own today.
