Hunter 460 hatches

Request advice or sources for following:

1, I need to repair/replace a cracked Coast S-10 hatch on the forward cabin top due to a crack. I'm putting boat up for sale soon and want it in top condition to hopefully sell quickly. If anyone has experience with source for the hatch or the acrylic I would appreciate the assistance. Maripro told me they were obsolete and I have to replace the entire hatch but would prefer not if possible.

2. I also have a leak in the starboard aft cabin from small hull side hatch. I'm not sure if it can be tightened or re-sealed but if you've messed with those small Lewmar (manual say its a Lewmar HW0074) hatches, advice is requested.

Thanks, Rob

1. Remove (or have removed) the old lens WITHOUT any damage to it. Damage it and you will need a whole new hatch.

2. Take the old lens to an acrylic fabricator in your neighbourhood and have them fab a new lens (using the old one as a pattern) with the same thickness and colour as the old one.

3. An acrylic fabricator will cut a new lens to +/- 0.001" with a C N C (Computer Numerical Control) cutter. Do not get anything cheaper or you will regret it.

4. The sealant you will apply to the spotlessly clean aluminum frame is Dow Corning 795. Boatworks today tells all there is on this subject.

First see exactly where the leak is coming from. If between the aluminum frame and the lens, replace the gasket.

It the leak is coming from between the alum. frame and the FG surface, the port must be removed, spotlessly cleaned on both the FG back and the aluminum frame, and then resealed with a good sealant.
