The top of my port water tank was punctured with a screw. Has anybody had any luck/ suggestions with a repair.

That was my thought along with coating it with an epoxy......My problem is - the forward tank is completly higher then the starboard port tanks, so repair will have pressure on it and if it does not hold, it drains the 75 gallon forward tank. So I need a good fix.

Tank is abs plastic so has to be plastic weld. Harbor freight sell plastic weld tool but I have never had any luck getting a good fix maybe others better at it. I like 3m 5200 because it seems like it sticks to anything screw 5200 and possible add valve between tanks to control flow and regulate water usage

Thank you. Valve is a good idea for a default option.

The tank is "probably" polyethylene. There is a "special" glue that may work. I would try the glue first (easy). If that does not work the welding method would be good too.

If you have access to the inside of the tank at the damaged area, how about an aluminum rivet and backing plate, along with a little goop?

I have the same boat as you, 2006 Hunter 45 CC, ( The 45 CC's were Built from 2005 to 2010) , I am curious, was the screw that punctured your port tank part of the original construction when Hunter built the boat in the factory, or the result of a screw that was installed at a later time?

Thanks,
Jeff

Mine is a 2008. They, dealer, could not sell the boat. They said, "Down turn of the economy slowed all boat sells especially big boats". I purchased the boat in 2013 as a never commissioned vessel, first owner. I can tell you I never removed the table anchor screws and know of no reason prior to my ownership. So I am comfortable saying good chances it was factory installed. All the screws in the table flange were one length, except one. When the plastic tanks fill they grow in size. This one had a screw to rub against.

Thank you for the information, please let us know what you decide to do to fix it. I sometimes get fresh water in my bildge, not all of the time however. Perhaps I have a similar problem.

put a waterproof bulkhead fitting in the area where the hole is and use a pipe plug to plug the bulkhead fitting

I have a 2004 41AC, and found many lose SS screws dropped all over the boat. There were many pinched between the sides of the fuel and water tanks. I was able to use very long forceps to grab the screws that had the potential to rub holes into the water and fuel tanks. I might suggest that we all take a look at the space surrounding our tanks, to prevent water/ fuel/sewage issues.
