Hi all. In my continuing search for a bigger boat, I have narrowed it to the 45CC and the 49. Question for both current owners. On the 45CC, is the tank directly below the master bed. And for 49 owners, is the tank directly below the two aft beds. My wife is worried about fuel smell. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day.

We own a 2006 Hunter 45 CC, and yes the fuel tank is under the master berth in the aft cabin. We bought the boat new, so we have had it for 8 + years, and have never detected any diesel fuel odor. By the way, it's a great boat. PM me if I can be of any more help, or any anymore questions you may have.

Jeff, unless there is a permeated tank or a leaking fitting, you should not have a diesel smell regardless of where the tank is. Does you current boat have a smell? Of course, if there had been a smell because of a spill, it may take some work to get it out but it certainly is doable. Good luck!

I have a 2008 45CC the fuel tank is under the owners cabin bed. Mine is a plastic tank, not sure if other years used other construction material, and there has never been a fuel smell. The 45CC is a great boat with superior creature comforts and heels over with the best of them in her class. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions about her.

Thanks to all. I figured so. My wife has a great sense of smell and can't stand diesel oder. Any thoughts to cockpit size? We generally entertain on our 410 which has ample cockpit room. That is my only concern.

The cockpit on the 45CC Is smaller then that of a deck salon model. The 45CC cockpit will easily seat six adults. Depending on your cockpit cover set up, you have two additional rear rail seats plus the aft deck. It is not the easiest cockpit to move around in. However, if you are able to utilize the cockpit and entire aft deck, there is plenty of room to move and entertain. On most sailing days six to eight people can enjoy the ride. I always say party with six, dine with four, and sleep with two. We most generally sail, dine, and sleep with five. Plus the benefit of the CC is below, in the beautiful owners cabin. I also love that I have all the benefits of a 45 foot boat and I'm able to sail it only looking over top 30 feet of it from a higher elevation. Both boats are great vessels you will not go wrong. I am partial to my 45CC, it is the right boat for me. Good luck on your journey and feel free to ask more questions.
