I do not live where my boat is berthed....so I have always had it winterized (and dewinterized) professionally.
My boat has already been winterized for this coming winter season.
Question: I want to take the boat out for a short sail and motoring to move it to another location.....
I only want to dewinterized the main engine (not generator, or anything elso) myself to make this short (6 miles)trip.
I need a procedure to dewinterize the Yanmar engine. It sould be simple enough?......water in and water out to the engine....be sure the seacock is open for input of fresh water....
...so what other details should I know about and do ??
Maybe there is a U-Tube video explaing ??

If the raw water impeller is in place and the alternator belt is tight, just turn on the engine nd go.

Beyond the oil level and anti-freeze level, I am not aware of anything else engine specific. The raw water level should take care of itself when you open the seacock and the pump takes suction. Get the list of things done from your winterize service provider to have a checklist of items impacted by the service and the prodeure they use to put the vessel back into service.

............................... that the sea water circuit in your engine was filled with anti-freeze prior to shutting down the engine.

This should be filled again with 50/50 antifreeze and then shut it down for the winter.

Re: I Would also Suspect ........................

Do check what type of antifreeze was used before you start the engine. Also check the environmental laws where the boat is located. In most places it is illegal to dump antifreeze (except non-toxic type) in water or on the ground, which is what is going to happen when you start it. And if toxic type, you have to collect it to prevent dumping. Easier to do when starting boat while on the ground. good luck
