Hunter 410 Keel issue

View media item 26403View media item 26402View media item 26401We hauled out for a day to get under the boat during a new electronics installation and saw these cracks on our keel. We haven't done any hard scraping yet to see how deep this goes but upon initial inspection, it's not that deep and the photos make it look a lot worse than we believe it is, meaning the crack is on both sides but doesn't go all the way through. Please check out the photos and if you have experienced the same issue or know of a historical Hunter keel issue can you share? ...and what you did to repair the crack if you did repair it? We haven't hit bottom since owning the boat and I am unaware of any history of the boat grounding. It's a 1998. Unless we are convinced to take care of this right away, we will probably have it looked at and 'repaired' when we haul back out in a few years to paint. Thoughts and input from the experts here?

It is likely simply fairing material which has come off.

I would not just assume that it's no big deal. You need to have the right guy look at it. I'm not sure who that guy is.

Hopefully Crazy Dave will either know how that keel is constructed or know of someone else who does.

When I see cracks in that area, it reminds me of the way that Mike Plant's boat went belly up. It's not something that I would want to be careless about.
