Hunter 410 generator mase

Does anyone have a mase gen in their boat? I have 2001 410 with a mase 5.1
Question is I have water intake and a water outflow under the stern. I also have an exhaust with a lift muffler. Water flows fine to the output under the boat but I don't understand the muffler setup? No water flows out just exhaust? Runs fine but I never saw this setup with any other gem.

Many are installed with a water separator in the cooled exhaust (may look like a water lift muffler). It makes the gen a lot less noisy from outside when the water drains separately instead of coughing out of the exhaust.

I have a Mase 7.6 in my 41DS. I installed with just a water lift muffler as per Hunter. Water and exhaust comes out together as I do not have a water separator. Exhaust comes out the port side of boat. Do you have working CO detector?

ok. i have never seen this arrangement before. does the muffler require water in it? it has a drain for empty for winter storage. i dont have much information on servicing the unit. i assume now that this muffler is used for preventing back flow of water into the engine.
thanks for info. just trying to learn this arrangement.
i do have a smoke detector and co2 detector. previous owner didnt use generator much, it only has 16 hours on it......
