Hunter 41 fuel gauge doesn't calibrate

I have a 2004 Hunter 41 with a "Hunter" branded gauge, which I think is an Ultra-8 manufactured by Snake River? The only buttons on it are a "C" and up and down arrows (like the schematic attached). I was able to get it in calibration mode by holding "C" while powering on. I go through the steps to calibrate an empty fuel tank, but it doesn't change any of the values and the tank still reads 3/4 full.

Any pointers on how to reset the gauge? I attached an image of the float sending unit. Are the LEDs supposed to be lit up when the gauge is on? I didn't see either LED turn on. Can I replace just the float or would I need to replace the entire system?

My sender quit working at year 5. I replaced it with a wema tank sender and a round faria( Spelling?) gauge. It already had a round gauge for the 2nd tank. Still working 15 years later. I like being able to see the fuel level at a glance, rather than having to turn on the tank monitor. If you choose to replace the tank sender, I belive that the ohms are different for the snake river solution, compared to the industry standard.

Sounds like you figured out how to calibrate. But here are the instructions for reference, and the manual.

I corresponded with the engineer that designed those while back and he gave me instructions on how to add a resister and use a traditional 0-180 ohm fuel sender.
Basically it was to bridge the SEN and PWR with a 510 ohm resistor and connect the SEN to the new sending unit.
His name is David T. Davis <dtdavis@dhmicro.com>

I did that and it worked perfectly.

I've been in communication with Tech-Edge Manufacturing, who is giving me pointers on how to calibrate the sending unit directly. (It has to do with using a jumper between the black, white, and gray wires from the sending unit.)
