I have an Hunter 41. It has one 35 gallon diesel fuel tank.
I am in the process of installing a 6KW Generator Set for on board power when at anchor.

I would like to add a second (if smaller) diesel fuel tank because of the added requirement for fuel brought on by use of the Gen Set.

Can anyone tell me if you have added a second fuel tank, and if so what size and where it was placed?

What make of genset are you putting in?

Fuel

You will be surprised how little fuel a diesel Gen uses,I have a 4200 FP and it really is not a fuel hog.
I do carry fuel jugs on deck for long term cruising and use the gen for AC and battery charging yes but what I did was add 2 190 watt panels above my bimini
bolted to the arch with the cables down the arch into the main panel and batteries are in my salon.
I use the gen mostly for AC and maybe 1 hour in morning for microwave and electric coffee pot and 1 hour before sleeping after watching TV and charging computers and Iphone's and other stuff but my solar really charges batteries all day.

My 410 has 49gal. diesel tank at stern and 50 gal water tank plus 2 other 50 gal water tanks mid ship.
I believe you have same arrangement.
I would convert water tank on stern to fuel and install new water tank/bladder under settee mid ship, there is room for it.
This option would increase diesel volume and retain 150 gal water volume.

I have a 2004 41AC 2 cabin. The standard tank was the 35 on the starboard side in the back. Since ours has a FP6000 gen set they added another 19 gal tank with a transfer pump on the port side in the rear. I am the 2nd owner, but it looks like it was a factory install. I believe that in 06/07 they went to the 50 gal tank as standard.
