It appears I will need to replace the aft air conditioner on a Hunter 40.5. I believe the original unit is a Marine Air 7000 BTU systems. Any information on replacing this system would be appreciated. Specifically, should it be replaced with a Marine Air system or can other systems work there as well. Also, any hints on removal and replacement of the unit would help too. Thanks in advance.

Mine is a Marine Air 5000 BTU, not a 7000. I have not had any problems with mine other than a slightly noisy blower.

Thanks, Rich. I pulled the panel above the unit and was able t see the label. Mine is definitely a 7000 BTU system. Do you find the 5000 BTU unit to adequately cool the aft cabin?

There is a geographical difference in the average ambient temperatures between Texas and Rhode Island. Base your decision in the past performance of the 7000 btu unit at your location.

Agree with Benny. Go with the 7000.
