Stupid question here. I'm in Saudi Arabia for a month on a project but need to purchase replacement house batteries. Can anybody help me with information on the house batteries for a 2000 380? Really appreciate it. Ralph Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (for now)

maybe

I would go with 3 Trogen group 31s that will give you about 400 amp hours. You can get them at a non-marine store at a reasonable price and they are easier to handle then a 4D or 8D.

It all depends on how much battery space you have or want to create. My 386 only has space for one 4D size (210 Amp hr) house battery under the port settee. With all the other "stuff" onboard, such as water heater, AC and refrigeration I'm SOL on space for more batteries. Still, I find 210 amps ample for me, as long as I keep it maintained properly (recharged). I purchased a Lifeline AGM - they're not cheap but what a great battery for boats.

Thanks for the reply. I actually have two 4D's under the port settee now. They're lined up ahead of the starting battery. With AGM and Gel batteries, I would like to replace out the flooded cell with something safer and more efficient. Ralph

While in Saudi...

...can you get Secretary of State Rice to clarify the US position on Saudi Arabia. Have we decided it's an Arab moderate state that can help us, after having marginalized the government as unhelpful on terrorism. Just a thought, while you're there.
