hey guys I'm looking at PSS shaft seal for my 2005 38. I'm not near the boat at the moment and I'm wondering if anyone knows the shaft and stern tube sizes on this model ?

Curious why you want to replace packing seal with a PSS seal? I installed them on a dual engine motor yacht when I replaced the shafts and that was a small cost adder at the time. Never installed one on my Hunter 31, 386 or 46.
I replaced mine with a PSS dripless a couple of years ago. It was in my quest for a dry bilge.

The only challenge I had was when the yard installed it they ran the vent tube from the PSS to an elevated point in the engine compartment. I kept noticing water in the area under the engine and went on a quest to find the source. Looked for loose fittings, even wondered if because we were having an excessively cold summer whether the cold water was causing condensation.
In the search I notice that it was wet in the area of the vent tube. So I went to the PSS site and did some digging and learned that on some boats when you put the engine in a hard reverse it will compress the bellows on the PSS slightly and cause water to shoot up the vent tube. We ended up rerouting the vent tube and installing a through hull behind the hanging locker high up on the port side. Took care of the problem.

thanks guys, I mght be missing it but I'm still not seeing the stern tube size in any of the links. Anyone know what it is ?
I know you need the stern tube to properly size the PSS shaft seal to select the correct PSS. Wonder if SBO store can provide that dimension since they sell PSS's for a Hunter 38 (380) OR measure it after you haul the boat for seal replacement?

Letskeepriding are you looking for the waterlubricated bearing in the strut?
I know mine was very thin, only 3mm 1/8" if I am correct. So that would be 1 1/4 plus 2 x 1/8" = 1 1/2" outside diam for the bearing. Sorry length forgotten.

I put the vent tube from PSS up high in cabinet and have the tube go
into bicycle water bottle and yes if use hard reverse water goes into bottle
and check it .
