The mast on my Legend 37.5 is deck stepped. The post in the salon has a block (pulley) installed on the forward edge at the ceiling. IT seems to me that the only penetration to a deck stepped mast would be electrical. But there is a cable exiting the mast at the base and through a gland on the deck. So where's the leak comming from, and what is that blck used for?

Thanks for the help in advance. I love this site.

The block is used to provide a counterweight for the salon table. The line runs up from the table over the block and down to a heavy counterweight.
Water can enter through the tabernacle mount bolts. There are 4 if memory serves. A close inspection of the tabernacle will revel several drain holes. If these get clogged the tabernacle will fill with rain water and you get more leaks. The drains are front, back, and on on both sides. The side ones are behind the "nut holders" (a block screws in to the hole and you put a nut in there to hold it. They are small and clog easily.

I had the same problem on my 1990 37.5. When it rained to any degree I would often end up with drips on the salon table from the counter weight cord. I don't know where I saw it but someone came up with the idea to run the electrical wires, radio coax, and instrument wire through a pvc conduit elbow like the ones used by electricans. I was working on my mast this spring and did just that I took the conduit and ran the wires through it making sure I used the proper heat (shrink wrap) connectors. I had to trim both ends of the pvc conduit to ensure it was not too high. It has been a month and so far so good bone dry!

Also, water loves to enter from places you would never imagine, then run along other areas and appear to be from the mast.
