While a nice (but unused) touch on our Hunter 36, the switch that turns on/off the light/fan in the dish cupboard is a real pain. It is VERY easy to inadvertently turn it on while working in the kitchen and not even notice that it IS on due to the quiet fan motor. Then three hours later you discover it's been happily sucking up battery juice. Has anyone found a way to replace that switch with something that is a bit more failsafe and still have it look cosmetically OK? Thanks.

On the Hunter 38 the cabinet fan/light switch is wired into the "courtesy lights" circuit, controlled by the circuit breaker. In order to run the fan/light combination, you must deliberately activate the "courtesy light" circuit and the fan/light switch.
The "courtesy light" breaker also feeds power to the gooseneck lamp at the chart table, an overhead light at the companionway, and an overhead light on the arch. They are all switched individualy.

Easy to Solve

Two choices :dance::
1/ You keep that switch and add a Push Button Switch on the side of the nasty one !!!, or you dismount the switch and put a nice plate with the push button switch in the middle (there is no square push button of this size). Find it here:

2/ You just totally replace the nasty switch by a 12 V DC Timer which allows to use the Fan/light just fot a few time and not for 24H or more !!! the batteries willl like it.

I had also the same problem on my H36:cussing:
