I have a crack in the companionway hatch and the only way to remove the (plexiglass/lexan?) seems to be to remove the seahood. Going to be my next winter project, but thinking ahead. Is it as simple as just unscrewing and prying? Any hidden fasteners or tips I should know? Thanks.

Not sure what you mean.

1 ) The horizontal Sliding part
or
2 ) Vertical drop in pieces.

Do you have pictures?

Just remove the hood where the Dorade vent is. 8 screws if I remember correctly. It isn’t glued down normally.

OK. For anyone else as incompetent as I am, I got back to the boat today and looked harder for a stop. Turns out the "stop" was the top edge of my fancy custom.Zarcor doors. Removed the doors and the hatch slider slid right out. Aargh.

Do you have a picture of your Zarcor doors? Do they work well and would you do them again?

Have a 2 board setup and it is a nuisance.

Thanks,
Jeff

Previous owner installed them, but I think they are great for day sailing and weekending. Windows can be easily replaced with screens. Only two complaints. There is no real good way to lock them except cable and padlock. Built in lock is junk and never lined up right. Also, you must remember to close them when not in use or lines hang up on them.
