This is the one that I have on the boat currently for the AC and the engine (1 each). Boatyard is saying should replace the bowls. Coincidentally, insurance surveyor told me to upgrade the whole thing.

Anyone put in a different strainer or a different bowl from the standard Hunter install?

Thx,
Swan

I have the same thing except the engine bowl is much larger than the generator and the A/C. I inspect them whenever I clean the bowls, which is a couple times a season, and they are fine after 11 years. See no reason to change in my case.
But they are cheap enough. I think I will replace the engine bowl and the generator bowl. Keep the old ones for spares.
Thanks for bring this up.

I replaced the engine intake strainer on my Hunter 38 with a much larger Groco model

The factory strainer seemed way too small and was not really sufficient in straining capacity. Plus the bowl was not as user friendly to service. The model I used to replace is much easier to clean.
Biggest challenge was making sure to measure and get one that will fit in the space. And that you can unscrew the top and get the strainer basket out.
