I have a question that may have a simple answer.

Because I am interested in a larger boat, something in the 33 to 37 range, I often find myself looking at larger boats in our harbor. I have noticed however, as well as many other harbor occupants, a particular hunter berthed in its slip that rocks back and forth, beam to beam, whenever the wind kicks up to about 15kts and above. Although there is some movement by other boats in the harbor when the wind picks up, it is nothing to the to the degree that this one hunter rocks. It literally rocks back and forth at least 15 degrees to each side such that it causes many to stop and stare at this oddity. I have never seen this before in any boat. We can't figure this out. And before the jokes start, no, there are no people in the boat when this back and forth thing happens.

Any idea what's going on?

Strange.. he might be in a place where the waves are reflecting off the square corners of the harbor breakwaters and adding to each other..

In the absence of the owners tending to it, we tightened down the mainsheet as the boom with no mainsail was in rhythm with the swaying. It calmed it down a bit but still, it stands out in the harbor as the only one moving back and forth.
