I used Daly's teak oil on the companionway and was very impressed with the results...Does anyone know what the table top finish might be?...is it Daly's or maybe varnish?..thanks in advance

I decided to go ahead and refinish the table in the main salon....Mine wasn't in bad shape but had a couple of stains I wanted to get rid of ...I used 150 grit on the the main table as a couple of the stains were alittle more elbow grease to get rid of.you can work your way up to 400..One thing of note, I think the top of the table is laminate and VERY thin so you need to be mineful of this and not sand too much off.....on the small leaf because there was no damage I just went over it with the 150 with no pressure....I used Daly's SeaFin teak oil....I would recommend you read the instructions. It says to apply and wet sand with 400 so that's what I did.....The table extension only needed 3 coats as the surface was very consistant and I never sanded very aggressively....the table top was a different story....there were areas where I sanded more than others and did not have a consistant sanded table top..I applied Daly's with a dish rag that was lint free....the product goes on easily...you can wipe on a coat in about one minute....depending on humidity and air temp will determine how long it takes to dry.I put on a coat at 7am and another at 6pm.....I put a fan on low to help this process....because of the inconsistencies in my sanded table top, after each of the first few coats there were a lot of flat spots where the oil penetrated...this went on for about five coats....right now I am on coat 6 or 7 and I am about 95% done with a consistent finish on the entire surface...If you sand a fair amount plan on applying many coats to get you back to a consistent finish...and be careful because if the surface really is a laminate that's about 1/64 inch thick or less....The Daly's product does leave a darker finish than a bleached out surface that's been sitting there for 25 yrs....that's my take on refinishing the main salon table of a 1994 hunter legend 35.5....I was alittle concerned after the first couple of coats as it looked like crap....but I am happy today....

That's a nice finish. I went for a low maintenance satin finish. My understanding is that for the interiors Hunter used Mohawk stains and finishes during production.

You can bring out any white staining from water contamination on your woodwork by using Mohawk Super Blush Retarder (available in a spray can). This stuff works like magic and the white stains disappear (don't use it in a humid space or the stains will re-appear elsewhere). Hunter used a variety of Mohawk stains and Mohawk Ultra Flo Clear Lacquer.

I prefer a satin finish as is does not show scratches as quickly and I am mostly too lazy to get the mirror finish that some of you have the talent to pull off.

For my H36 Hunter used:
Interiors
On the Mohawk website, go to AEROSOLS/TONER AEROSOLS/TONE FINISH TONERS.
Stains - Mohawk wiping stain M545-L4046 Lt. Fruitwood
Stains - Mohawk repair stain stick M280-L404 Lt. Fruitwood
Clear Finish - Mohawk spray lacquer M102-0452 Precatalized Satin Lacquer, Ultra Flow Clear
Deep Scratches - M102-0423 Sanding Sealer 1-3 coats
Water in the wood - M103-0476 - Mohawk No Blush - to remove white milky look. This stuff is magical.
Walls Cleaning - if lacquer finish use Pledge lightly and if refinish is needed: Mohawk M102-0452 Precatalized Satin Lacquer, Ultra Flow Clear
