I would think you would want something stronger than wood. Mine is still the manufacturer's cradle but modified to fold down and it is 6" I beams for the base, 3" 3/16 inch wall pipe for the uprights and 2X2 angle for the braces. probably heavier than a cradle maker would make one but a lot of lateral strength is needed
I saw a wood cradle for a larger boat not sure of the size but about the size of my hunter34. It was made of 6x6 and 6x8 pressure treated lumber with a lot of lag bolts.
If you're interested I could scan the drawings and BOM I have since I had my cradle made. It was designed by brother-in-law, a PE specialized in building platforms in the gulf of Mexico. Made of steel, it has 6 adjustable legs, & 4" beams. It was calculated for the boat and has now been used for 12 years.

Yes Claude that would be great. As a carpenter I thought I could build one by wood but by the lack of response I am thinking twice. I do know a welder so maybe I will go that route. Do Marinas charge to store your cradle over the summer?

Most marinas do not charge to store the cradles if you dock the boat there in summer and keep it stored on their property for the winter. Winter storage is charged of course. You can sometimes negotiate a deal for haul out, storage, and launching the following Spring. Are you in Port Clinton, NY, at the head of the St.Lawrence River ?
