Hello All.

I am a reasonably new sailor and am ready to purchase our first boat. I sail with my brother on his 32'. We are very interested in the Hunter 336. Nice comfy boat for exactly what we are after. I have been looking at a number of them online. I have noticed that some are offered with air conditioning and refrigeration. These two options I like. My question is. Many of the boats do not have this option. Is it an easy option to add to the 336? Are the rough ins for the equipment already within the boats? Any advice would b appreciated.

Thanks so much.

It's rare to have rough ins for systems not installed. The only thing I can think of that might, just might be there is ductwork for a/c. That said, neither system is too difficult to install for good DIY-ers. Good luck, happy hunting.

if the boats you are looking at are over 6 or 8 years old, likely the systems will need RandR.....most boats, as Stu says do not have "rough ins".

Most of the newer systems are easier to install, much more efficient and quieter to run.

Best of luck, and welcome aboard

I can only recommend the H336. Very comfy, lots of room in the cockpit and in the cabin, easy to sail, reasonably fast. A/C and fridge are not pre-wired. I don't know about A/C (not really a need in the Pacific Northwest) but the conversion of the icebox to a cooler/freezer is pretty easy, with conversion kits e.g. from Novakool.

Good luck with the purchase, welcome to the Hunter family

Don't know year 336 you refers to. I installed aircon & coldplate myself for my 2002 326. Cut-outs behind cabinets already there. Place aircon and fridge compressors under starboard sette. Drill cooling water discharge just 18" above waterline. Tee off cooling seawater intake from the thru'hull for toilet bowl. All works done on water. No need for haulout. Definitely a diy'ers dream job.
