Hunter 33 stair and engine access

Hello,
I have a 2007 Hunter 33. The main engine access is behind the stairs. The stairs have to be removed and put to one side. I have only owned the boat for 4 months and I have already put a "ding" into the nav table. Not even got it in the water yet!
Has anybody tried or come up with a solution to put the stairs on a hing?

I am sure it is possible but the stairs are heavy would take some good hinges connected to a reinforced frame, to access the engine occasionally, there is separate access for oil level and coolant checks

I typically just put them to the side in the floor space in the galley area. Almost gets them out of the way but works well enough to work on the engine for most things.
