Have a 1993 Hunter 33.5, just re-purchased my old boat back, and find that the hot water tank/heater, 120ac at the dock, Yanmar engine heat under way, has been disconnected, hoses redirected ,inlet to outlet, on both the and the the Yanmar engine. I suspect it may be leaking, cant get an answer from the previous owner who has dementia and the broker is playing dumb.

Anyone ever have a problem with their heater

If it was disconnected (it was working when you first had the boat?) then someone did something because something wasn't working, right?

Many people disconnect their hot water heaters because they may have mistakenly thought that extra running of the fresh water pump was attributable to the heater, when, in fact, it could also be caused by leaks in the water hoses.

Do some detective work and find out which. What may have happened on someone else's identical boat should really have no bearing on your case in this instance/example (it's not a particular brand or model issue).

Good luck.

PS - I just replaced my hot water heater and all the hose, so I know how you feel. :)

I suspect the heater had a leak and the leak go into the core of the hull, I have a soft spot in the outside hull near where the galley/heater is located.
Am having it looked at this week.
Where did you get your new heater ??

not sure if i have a water heater problem or not. all heat exchanger hoses are hooked up. engine overheats and i loose the water from the fill tank. i died the water red and have no red water into the water from the raw water pump. but have red water in the bilge. must have a hose leaking or the heat exchanger in the water heater has a crack in it. cant find where the red water is coming from. will look again next weekend. and will report.
