I was told by a yacht broker that the downward slope of the forward berth on a 33.5 was because the water tank was empty. Can anyone tell me is this correct? Has anyone tried to fix the problem?
We had a 91 33.5 hull number 11. Our daughter sleeped in forward berth and didn't like the downward slope. It didn't matter if there was water in the tank it still had a downward slope. I took the cushion in and had someeone put a wedge of foam in the cushion. They also had to sew more material on to the custion.
Mark, I have a '88 h33.5; there is a definite slope aftward on the V berth even when the water tank is full. I find it quite aggrevating; however, I havent corrected the problem. Apparently, the only two choices are to rebuild the V berth frame or modify the cushion. Filling the water tank won't help very much.
I'd like to find out how you got 80 gallons of water under the forward V-Berth? I just recently had to remove the old aluminum tank and I estimated it only had about 45 gal capacity. As a temporary solution, I installed a Vetus 42 gallon flexible tank under the berth. I have the measurements of this area under the berth and could only design for about 55 gal custom tank.Capn' BrentS/V Elena Luahttp://www.elenalua.homestead.com
