My 1992 cabin table does not go down complete to make into a double berth. Is this as designed? There also seems to be two designs as seen in the enclosed images. Does the inlaid table work as a double berth and the solid laminate does not? Or did the previous switch things out on me?

On my 1988 Hunter 33.5 there was no provision to convert the table into a berth. The table top was mounted onto a non collapsible pedestal. Guess that if an additional berth was necessary it could be done with modifications to the pedestal or perhaps an entirely new designed pedestal.

My pedestal drops down but not enough. The table is to big and the retraction bottoms out. I also have a cushion that fits it exactly.

My 1988 33.5 (H333) dinette table does not drop to form a berth. It is also unlike your 92 in that it is not "U" shaped seating and instead a standard dinette with fore and aft seating.

The adjustable pedestal looks like a winner. My 1988 33.5 had a solid pedestal. Would definitely be too much trouble to remove it from beneath the table top and cabin sole to rig for a sleeping berth. The adjustable pedestal would be a simple solution. I would take some measurements to ensure that the pedestal retracts sufficiently to lower the table top to the same height as the adjacent setees. Looks like a great solution at a bargain price.

Our '93 H33.5 has a retracting table with some kind of gas strut inside the table support which makes getting it back up a breeze - great design. We also have a cushion that fits perfectly into the U formed by the dinette. It has the plywood covered with Formica table top with a retractable leave that extends to the port side settee so you can sit more people. Ugly but practical.

Ours is a Hunter 30 so it may be different, but it takes a lot of pressure to push it all the way down.
Also our table was too big to get around (L shaped seating) so I ditched it and made a smaller table. It works great now.
