Hi - does anyone know where the shower drains to ? Mine does not drain readily into the bildge. I tried snaking it, then forced water through it with a hose. It just runs back and fills the shower back up, slowly drips into the bidge, then runs under the (rotten) wooden floor boards. Any suggestions ?:cussing:

mine is still the original layout. it runs from shower to the bildge where it goes into a sump area with a pump. you should be able to see where it goes into the engine compartment then runs along the port side of the bildge.

Thanks, Chick - I can see where it runs into the engine area under the batteries, but it doesn't seem to want to get down into the bilge. When your say it runs along the port side, - is it supposed to flow into the bilge from above ? I can see some other drain tubes (one from the fridge) running in there

I think the simple solution to your problem is...

Turn on the sump pump.

There should be a switch in the head for it...on most boats, located on the side of the vanity. If turning it on doesn't start it running, make sure the appropriate breaker is on and/or any inline fuse isn't blown.

The bilge in the engine compartment is a separate shower bilge. A separate bilge pump with a separate bilge hose and exit drains this bilge. If the boat does not have this bilge pump it should be added to make the system work. The attached Legend - look at #13 and the plumbing diagram show the original design.

Finding the bad pump

Paul - thanks for this - any idea how to get to that separate sump and pump - seems to be blown

Shower Bilge

Yes, you have to take the batteries out. Below them you will find a hatch. Lift the hatch and you will see the shower bilge and pump. I have put extra batteries in this area - see photos attached.

Paul,
I am new at this but have been following all coments from everybody, and have learned a lot
I have the same boat as you do (a purchase after Ike), but noticed your engine area has a lid which you removed
On mine, I installed a ddor with piano hinges on the left, and it swings out so you don't have to remove the door every time
I have pictures, I saw it on someone else's boat and thought was a good idea
It took me almost no time to do it
Thought I would pass this on to you
Regards to all,
Jorge

Thanks, folks - this is really useful. I like the hinge idea and will add it to that ever-growing to do list. The other thought I had was to get some type of plexiglass so I could see in (sort of). I did get the float valve in and it works fine. Somewhere my bildge wiring was modified and not done correctly - you need to have at least one battery turned on at the power switch for the pumps to work, and there is no manual on switch (always needs the float) - NOT A GOOD IDEA
