I'm looking to change the stock 110% Jib with a 135% on my 1997 Hunter 310. Would like to know from others who have done this if there are any issues with the furler being able to accommodate the bigger sail. The furler spool pretty much fills up with the line when unfurled. Would I need to change to a smaller diameter furling line? Would appreciate any advise. s/v Calaloo

Check 29.5

Lee, look at the boat page on the 29.5. There are some old pictures of a 150 on a 29.5. The original furling line was actually one size larger than stock with the first 15' de-cored so it would roll up in the drum. It was still hanging so I went to the stock size with the core. It works fine on the 150 so for your 135 you may just need a little more line of the same size.

H310 Genoas

Before investing in a larger Genoa, consider the fact that the 310 is not designed or set up for a larger Genoa. The same goes for any of the B&R Rig boats where the shroud base is at the shear(side of boat). The Genoa would have to go outside the spreaders, which are basically beam width, making the sheeting angle so wide, that up-wind capability would be drastically reduced. Basically the best you could do is close reach everywhere.
