Hunter 31 Propeller Shaft Packing Stuff

Hi HOW, What size shaft packing do I need for the stuffing box/propeller shaft for a H31? It is a 1" shaft and I think it needs 3/16ths inch packing, but not sure. Any help out there? Thanks, Roger Mummah ('83 H31 #58)

Shaft Packing

I'm pretty sure 3/16 is right. I got tired of messing with shaft packing and leaking all the time so I invested in a PSS shaft seal. What a GREAT investment that was. I've had it installed for about 3 years now and I wouldn't have it any other way. Faithful Girl is a 1986 H-31. Good luck Craig Young
