Any owners if 80's hunters found that rain water which falls on the companionway hatch leaks into the galley? Anyone found a solution to this?

Mine never did. Then one day it started to slide really easy, next heavy rainfall ..... Leaky leaky. Haven't had a chance to look much further, but I am wondering if there was a gasket of some sort in there.

Try cleaning the runners under the sea hood. One of the rails may not be draining and backing up into the cabin

What is the theory behind a properly working hatch or sea hood? Where is the water supposed to drain to?

Sunbrella cover for the companionway. Be sure the track is clean so the water drains out the aft end of the track.

Not at the boat, but I too have this problem. Is there an actual drain of some kind at the aft end of the rail or is the water just supposed to slosh aft and drain into the cockpit. I was not looking forward to removing the seacover to deal with the leak and apply the tape [another thread on screeching hatch].

Ours leaks when mold forms

Our hatch leaks when the metal track and bottom of the hatch plexi gets mold on it. I lift the closed hatch on each side from the inside of the boat and slide a rag or paper towel in between the two. Then I also clean the trough on the outside of the rail. On our boat the water mostly drains forward and runs out from under the sea hood through the openings for the aft lead lines. But even with that in a downpour it will still leak over the rails. We have a dodger but we removed all but the top as we do not need the rest of the protection on our inland lake and I hated looking through the windows. But a dodger with windows will also keep most of a downpour off the hatch. Our plan is to sew up a sunbrella panel to zip in where the old windows were to keep rain off the hatch area.

Good info, Brett. I'll try cleaning the rails and applying the tape and see how it works. I have a dodger but removed it to get the plastic windows replaced. Like you, I'm kind of used to sailing without it, though the boss complains about the temp of the cabin and cockpit. She finds no humor in my suggestion that it's a lot cooler on the bowsprit.
