The diaphragm on my 1990 Hunter 30 T's holding tank pump is leaking. Anyone know if replacements are available or do I have to change the whole unit?

I can't tell what make it is either - Hunter say maybe a Whale but it doesn't look like their current unit. Mine is white plastic, sort of square bodey and the diapragm is held on with screws.

Help!

You might try posting a photo of it

'Cuz it's impossible to know whether it's original or owner added...and if owner added, when.

If it is original, it's 20 years old...in which case, I'd replace it instead of rebuilding it. 'Cuz neither rubber NOR hard plastic/neoprene lasts forever, especially in a marine environment. So you could spend money to rebuild it only to have a cracked housing.

I have a 1992 30T. I replaced mine last year with a Whale Sea Urchin Bilge Pump (~$60 at West Marine). Although it is advertised as a bilge pump, I checked the box and it was also recommended for sanitation systems. It screwed into the same holes that my old one came off of, and it works like a champ.

A Rule - kits available

Yes you're absolutely right but it seemed in good shape. Hunter actually suggsted 3 possible pumps - one of which was the right unit - a Rule 20x (207 as I recall). A quick search revealed a repair kit for $20 supplied by ESS KAY yards ess-kayyards.com who were very helpful. Fitted it this morning in 30mins and all is well for now. I expect that the valves will be next but for now I'm happy and there was no messing about with stiff pipe work.

Thanks for the help ! (Great book btw Peggy)
