I'm searching for replacement skylights for my 1988 Hunter 30. Thanks for any help.

Hatches?

Patrick: Are you referring to the opening hatches? If the frames are still good you can just replace the plexiglass. If you don't want to do it yourself, you can send them back to the mfg. I assume that yours are Bomar. They may also be able to provide the plexiglass and sealant for you too. www.pompanette.com

Skylights

There are two pieces (inner and outer) on each of the two skylights. I don't know where they are available, but probably from Hunter. Depending on what you actually need though, it looks as though they wouldn't be too difficult to make, if you can't find them anywhere. I think the outer one is about 1/2 inch dark Lexan while the inner is about 1/8" Wrinkle finished opaque/clear plastic. Make a pattern, cut to size, drill, and mount. Mine are fine, but I have always had a hard time getting a nice bead on the flexible joint (outer deck side). I guess I just need more practice. Good luck.

First choice would be to call Hunter.

Patrick: I did not realize that these models had these fixed lights. I would first call Hunter and see if they have them or can make them for you. They also have a video on how to R/R these units. They can also provide the correct sealant. You may want to talk to them about the installation before you do it.

Skylight replacement

I also replaced the deck mounted "skylights" recently. A local plastic supply shop made them using the old ones as a pattern...made a great job. Removal of old ones was not too difficult.I tried a sealer the plastic guy suggested but it did not last. I now have them sealed with automotive windshield sealer and it is working great. Just use a lot of masking tape when sealing (stuff gets everywhere) Good luck Gerald
