hunter 30 exhaust problem

is it possible to have the exhaust plugged to the point that no water comes out? my one cylinder yanmar deisel has blown out the rad hose part of the exhaust so that the cabin is full of exhaust and then i noticed that there was no water coming out of the exhaust. also the engine lost power and was hard to start, there is a lot of blowby and i collected one half litre of oil from it in a one hour periodcould it all be related to exhaust blockage (partial)

Over Heating

sounds like your impeller is shot or the sea water intake is pluged. The exhaust hose split from exhaust heat, with no water running thur the hose it will fail. Make sure the sea cock is open. When starting the engine always lean over the stern & check to make sure water is coming out of the exhaust, if no water shut down the engine & find cause, good luck maybe the engine is not hurt.Dave T. 1980 Hunter 27

Mixing elbow

I had a similar thing happen. You need to check the mixing elbow. They need replacing every once in a while. This would be indicated by a good looking water pump.By the way, if yours is a 79 30, the replacement is posible, but you may want to ask the children and old ladies to leave the area.
