I have a 2001 290, that came without a winlass. I am trying to install a lewmar v700, and would like advise on where to mount. Concerned about line /chain fall, and sealing. If anyone has such an instalation, or the original Simson/Lawrence factory instalation, I would be interested in any info.and or photos. Frank

If you can post a picture or two of your anchor locker you may get some advice.
I purchased a V700 for my HV'36 and it was not the correct product for the application. I ended up getting a unit that was made for Hunter with a cut away throat which allows the chain/rode to dump forward into the anchor locker.

Windlass
I don't remember what model but it was just like what I have on my H-36 2007
from Hunter and same as the H-33 and some other model that allows the chain to drop forward of the windlass into the locker.
I did this on my 2001 290 right where there is a platforum in the anchor locker
and the windlass came with a paper forum of the windlass to lay down to make the cut out for mounting the windlass,just know the chain will not drop down into the locker by itself and will need you to with your hand help the chain to go deeper into the locker and not bunch up and jam the windlass when pulling up
the anchor and chain.
My 2007 H-36 factory windlass does this and many other Hunters have the same deal and what I do is use a remote in my righty hand and my left hand lift the chain into the locker and not really dangerous if you keep your hand in front of windlass with out ward chain other wise the chain will bunch up and jam the windlass.
Lots of work adding the windlass with wiring and push buttons drilling but if had to do again no push buttons just a remote less work for sure.
