I am replacing several of my running rigging lines. Owner's manual line sizes appear smaller than what is on my 2000 Hunter 290. Also, they appear to be cotton, vs. polyester? Example, the main halyard in manual is 3/8", looks a little dinky. I bought boat used, but would be surprised if they previous owner re-fitted the entire boat with color coded line as in owners manual. Does anybody have thoughts about early 2000 Hunter's and factory line selection?

The lines on boat are based on engineered load calculations vs ease of handling sure a 3/8 line can handle load of main a double brade denima (I think that's right) is good for like 3000 lbs but the po wanted a cotton line that's eazy to pull on so it's a preference thing po prob spent a lot of $ to upgrade perfectly good line to what he wanted also hunter gonna go with cheapest to make $

It may not be cotton, just looks much different than expected, I need to try to burn in end to verify. Size is definitely bigger than owner's manual. I was wondering if any circa 2000 Hunter's noticed discrepancy in Owner's manual. Similar Hunter 295 Manual called out LS Dacron, which would be appropriate. I am not sure what 15 year old Dacron should look like, but wouldn't think bigger is one of the changes.
