Have double purchase on Main Halyard but it causes problem. The fitting has a swivel and I tape it to stop the swivel from working. Any suggestion on a better method of stopping the swivel. Danger is that if the swivel works, it causes the halyard to wrap around itself and make it impossible to lower the sail.

Double purchase? Halyard runs thru swivel block at sail headboard then back to mast head?
Get rid of the swivel block and attach halyard end w/shackle to headboard and loose the unnecessary halyard length. Use mast or cabin roof top winch if/when needed, apply Sailkote or Superlube to mast track to reduce hoisting effort.
