I am looking at a 1993 Hunter 29.5 and need sail info.

#1, can a 150 genoa be used, I ask since the track for the cars used for the sheets is not very long and I'm wondering if the cars can be adjusted to handle a 150 ?

#2. This model 29.5 has no toe rail and there is no place for snatch blocks to handle sheets for an Asymmetrical spinnaker. Anybody with this model fly an asymmetrical and how are you doing it ?

Appreciate any feedback............

Hey Patrick,

I have a small jib. Sails great. Just upgraded main with additional roach. Where do you sail? I have the same interest in the 'flasher' I found its never been flown. Guess I'll see if someone in my marina has experience and get a hand

Thanks for the response. I will be sailing in Tampa Bay. The boat I may buy has a 100 genoa, I'm used to a 150 and am looking for info from any 29.5 owner who has one.
When flying an "A" sail, you need snatch blocks to control the sheets but this model has no toe rail to mount them on, hence my question. BTW, an "A" sail puts 1 to 1 1/2 kt on the boats speed.
You should also have a snuffer sock and a "tacker" so you can raise and snuff it with one crew member on the foredeck while the other controls the sheets from the cockpit.

I have 29.5 and looked into flying an "A" sometime ago. I though I could run sheets to a snatch block fixed to the back pushpit. I would have needed to install two additional winches and the price just got too high to justify the "A" sail.
