I have an 81H30 and a friend with a 28.5. The mainsail track on my 30 has a slide car the will keep the sail from coming out of its track once it is on. I did not see any way to do this on the 28.5 . What came from the factory to do this, and what have you 28.5 owners done to keep the main from sliding out of it's track every time it is lowered?

I use a stop

I use a sail stop on my H28.5. I am not sure how it came from the factory, but a sail stop is about $5 and can be locked in place anywhere along the track. I put my sail on and lock the sail stop just above the wide part of the track which prevents the sail from coming out of the track. Kenny

You can buy a device that slides into the track and clamps down to hold the sail slides in. Its probably been lost on the 28.5.

Sail Stops

I have a 285 and I use a sail stop. In fact I have two. One in the mast and another one below decks where I can get it when I drop the one in the mast over board when I reef the main. I know it's going to happen one of these days! Use the link to the page on Sail Net's site to see what they look like. I use the one with the flat peice. They are $6 and your friend should be able to find one in a well stocked marine store or get it on the net.
