I habe a Hunter 28.5 with a Westerbeke 10 HP diesel. I bought the boat used and I am not sure if it is proped correctly. Anyhow, I would like to install a folding prop. This web site says it should be a 14x11 in the two bladed version. Are there any other parameters I should state when doing my shopping? Thanks Scott

Check into a three blade prop.

Three blade props will give you less vibration than a two blade prop. Since you are going for a folding one, the extra drag of a three blade should be minimal compared with the two blade when under sail

Buying a prop.

Dear Scott: The most important info you can give to the prop people is the make and model of the boat, engine and the specifics of the transmissions reduction gear. They should ask you the current installed propeller diameter and pitch and it’s impact on the drivetrain. You will want to specify the shaft diameter. Some of the above items are simply confirming the information we currently carry on the boat. Good Luck. Sincerely, Kevin L. Woody
