Hi all! This is my first post to the forums, so be gentle to this newbie! I've got a 92 Hunter 27 that I've been lake sailing for 6 years now - but without tunes. I'm planning to install a radio/CD ....... but can't decide where to install it. The top of the electrical panel might work - but it won't look "professional". The side of the hanging locker would work - but this would eliminate 1/2 of the hanging space in the locker. Under the galley cabinets between fridge & stove would work .... but having a stereo above a cook top is probably not a good idea. I'm leaning towards putting it into the seat locker next to the hanging locker (face of unit below the seat cushions facing the table. But - I'm a little concerned that it will get kicked. Anyone out there put a stereo into your small Hunter? Any advice from the pros out there? Thanks! Roger

why not locker

I have a 90 H-27 and am looking at the same thing. From my previous experience with a Hunter 26, it would seem mounting it in the locker facing toward the v-berth would be the best place so that the face would be visible and accessible to those sitting. They in turn could change frequencies, change CDs, etc. I agree that it will take up some room inside the locker but the locker is kind of small amyway in terms of a useful locker for hanging clothes. It's more like a little general purpose storage center anyway and I've never hung up any clothing in it. The alternative would be to mount it on the opposie side of the cabin just under the sink area with the face of the radio/CD again player facing the v-berth. By the way, where do you sail, at Lake Lanier? Rick

Thanks!

Thanks Rick! I initially was thinking about mounting the radio below the wood rod in the locker. I think it makes more sense to move the rod down & mount the stereo above it. I've got my "emergency jackets" hanging for cold weather & about 2' worth of stuff down in the bottom. You're right - we're at Lanier at Aqualand. Just replaced my fuel filer with a Racor 120 this weekend! Thanks again. Roger

Right where Rick says

The stereo in our 1993 H27 is in the hanging locker with controls facing the V-berth. It is mounted as high in the locker as possible. It seems like a good place and is handy to tune. The wiring is easy to run from this location as well. Ward
