Dear readers,

1. The lock nut of my propeller shaft (gland) cannot be moved anymore, even with 2 wrenches. What to do? which wrench to be used and using penetration oil will do good?

2. The dirty water in my Jabsco toilet is coming back in the reservoir after pumping it away. I cleaned (and replaced the rubber plate with circular cut) already without any result.

3. My Kuuma water heater is becoming only a little bit warm, on shore current and on heated coolant of the motor.

WHat to do?

Thanks

1) Penetrating oil such as PB Blaster will help. Spray it on and tap the nut with a small hammer, And repeat a few time a day for several days. In the USA you can get stuffing box wrenches which are the same as a plumbers drain wrench but they are not that strong. I usually use two small or medium monkey wrenches also called a stilson wrench. If all else fails a little heat carefully applied from a plumbers touch will help but be careful in a boat and careful not to burn the rubber shaft tube.

2) Sounds like the joker valve is still bad try replacing it again and make sure you flush/pump with enough clean water so you clear the lines of sewage. You may consider replacing the waste hoses it they are old. It may help especially if the are calcified and contaminating the clean flush water. Also will make your boat smell fresher

3) I bet you heat transfer loop is scaled. You can try flushing the motor side with a mild acid solution and the domestic side with white vinegar. The the acid or vinegar sit for about a half hour and flush really really well. (You'll have to do one side at a time). May work. But my guess is the heater is toast and needs to be replaced.
