There was a previous post on a person trying to get access to batteries on the Hunter 27 through the bulkhead. Does anyone know if the bulhead from the aft berth to the batteries is really structural? I can't fit.

I have a 1989 (new to me) H27 and had the same issue. I cut a rectangular 10x20" access port in the aft bulkhead. Just to be prudent, I sealed the cut edges with thin epoxy to prevent any moisture intrusion in to the wood. I used an Armstrong deck plate as an easily removable cover (http://www.armstrongnautical.com/deckplates.htm). It looks good and allows access to the batteries that is otherwise difficult. I have seen no evidence of any problems with this arrangement. This also gave better access to the fuel and waste holding tanks which allowed me to install tank monitor sensors. Good luck.
