Regardless of rope or what I call line, stretching has nothing to do with that. If you do replace it, only 7/16 inch line NOT 1/2. Your problem is the line that is on top of the cabin or may be growth/barnicales in the centerboard housing as I was not sure of your description. First see if there is anything interfering in the centerboard housing. While looking, make sure there is nothing going on with the centerboard bracket. If all is ok, then the line on top needs to be adjusted. Please check and if you can take photos of the centerboard housing area and post them. Then we can go from there.
