Hey guys,

Well we are purchasing a 2001 Hunter 260 , and it is being shipped to us in a couple of weeks. We were hoping to get a little more descriptive info on raising the mast and setup. I've tried searching the forums and the video and picture links no longer work. Can anyone help, anything is appreciated!? Looking forward to the community!

Payton,
Welcome to the club! Once you figure it all out it won't seem so much like rocket surgery. Here's the link to the owner's manual.

The section on mast raising begins on page 17. Read it over and come back with questions. You'll have plenty. Our main sheet is long enough to reach back to a jib winch while raising the mast. It helps a lot. My wife can raise the mast by herself once it's all setup for raising. Not that she would ever do it but I had her try just to see. That being said, it's still challenging to get it started. But it gets easier the higher it gets.
So, read it over and let us know what's not clear. Trust me on that. It tells you *almost* everything you need to know.

It's easy

A couple of points to NOT forget

The gin pole should not be perpendicular to the mast it should be about up about 10 degrees so the angle from the top half of the mast to the gin pole is about 80 degrees

Watch the turnbuckles. if they are not at the top of the U bolts they may bind as you raise the mast and bend the T bolts

You probably have braces to support the mast not baby stays but don't forget the baby stays if you have them, I keep mine attached to the gin pole when not in use to prevent me from forgetting them.

Have Fun
