Could someone please tell me exactly how the topping lift for a 1994 Hunter 26 is supposed to be rigged?

I appreciate you responding, but I already have this information. Number 3 shows that the topping lift just stops at the end of the boom. Does it not feed through the boom? How do you raise and lower it?

It is a line diagram, in reality if line #3 was not actually tied to the end of the boom it would curve more as it was slacked rather than being taut as shown in the diagram. So the diagram does not actually show the way that line is tied down to the end of the boom by a knot. A standard method of showing gravity is not general knowledge passed on by pirates. AFAIK

Topping lifts are typically attached to the boom using a knot or a shackle. That is so they can be removed and tasked with other jobs. The line runs from the boom end to the mast top, through a block or mast sheave, and down to the bottom 1/4 of the mast, where it is secured. You can hoist or lower the end of the boom from the mast.

In this image of the Hunter 26, there is no topping lift. The boom is being held up by using a Boom Kicker. The black bar that is running from the mast base up to the boom. This is often the case for fractional rigs like the Hunter 26.
