I have a 1995 Hunter 26, that I recently trailered about 1500 miles. Apparently, during the trip I lost a couple of parts. At the base of the mast, molded into the deck there are two plastic sheaves that ride on a stainless shaft. The jib and main halyards pass through this set up and are turned toward the rope clutch on the starboard side.
The shaft must have vibrated out; both the shaft and the sheaves were gone when I went to launch and set up the boat yesterday. Can someone possibly tell me the length and diameter of the shaft and the size of the sheaves? What should keep the shaft from backing out on its own? There were also some plastic seperators also that I can probably just make.

What a bummer! If you want to order new parts, the manual lists the parts as Sheave Pin 4" w/Halyard Sheaves, P/N PR2616 & HW0103. Maybe a call to them will give you the dimensions.

On my 1994 H26, I can access the area undernreath the sheaves from inside the cabin through a headliner access plate over the table. I've had my sheave pin partially come out. The access plate was how I reset it and held the pin in place while lining up the sheaves and threading them through. If you are lucky, the pin may still be on the inside of the headliner. BrianW

Thank you for the part numbers Bilgewater. I'll call Hunter on Monday to see they can help.
Brian, I think that the pin worked its way out on the deck side. I will however double check to see if it slipped into the headliner side. I don't think that I have a headliner access plate. I think that the only access that I have is through the light, but I'll look again when I go over on Wednesday. Thank you for your help.

That pin and plastic sheave setup always looked like a "weak link" sort of thing.

Has anyone figured out a clever way to mount a stronger block? With access from below there should be a way to mount a backing plate.
