I have a 1995 Hunter 26. Have an A-spin with an I=29.4 feet. Wondering what distance up from the bottom of the mast to mount the A-spin halyard block. I've been told to mount it several inches (perhaps 6 in.) above the forestay but how far above the forestay (in my case a jib furler). When deployed, I think I want the foot of the sail to be above the lifelines (perhaps I'm wrong here) but this puts my halyard block more than several feet (like 6 ft. ) above my furler mast attachment. This seems to me to be too far up for strength (no backstay on Hunter 26) and control. Any comments are welcome.

Your boat's I measurement is 28.3 feet. If you mounted the spin block 1 foot above your forestay the spin would hang down to the deck, which is pretty much perfect. Of course it will fly well above that level when filled.

Don't go any higher than that.

Tx you so much. I have read many of your posting dealing with larger boats and was hoping that you or someone like you would be familiar with the 26. Now others also have the info.
