Hunter 26.5 Hull specs

My wife and i are trying to register our 1988 Hunter 26.5 with the Coast Guard. We don't have the builders certificate and the old plans that hunter had were destroyed in a hurricane. Does anyone have advice or ideas where I can get this officail info or a way around getting a Builders Certificate?

Hunter is still in business

They have good customer support - even for older boats and I would be very suprised if they could not help you. If you go to the Hunter Marine website they have a link thru the fleet tab to there out of production boats.

Normally you do not need a builders certificate once the boat has been registered for the first time. I realize that all states are different, but you may want to check with your DMV or licensing jurisdiction and explain the circumstances.

Thanks guys but....

I called hunter and they could not prvide me with this info. I was told those record were destroyed in a hurricane. They were very nice and resposive though. Here is the deal, we dont want to register the boat with the state, we want to register it with the Coast Guard. I was told that i need CG forms CG1340, 1258, 1261 or 5397. those last 2 are the builders cert or application for simplified measurement. Also they would accept the state registration but i would have to provide them all the way to the 1st registration. I only have the last one we all know what it is lie dealing with the dmv, any suggestins?

Holy cow... guess what I just got

A manufacturers stement or origin and origin of bulders cert....for my boat! he said the other guy wasnt so lucky.....can u believe this??? Thanks for all your help guys!
