A short time ago I posted a question on how to get rid of a weather helm. I pulled the mast foreward a bit and it helped. I think I will try a little more. Chris Phillips asked what type of headsail I have it is the original issue 110% I think. Do you have roller furling and will rolling up a bit of sail give acceptable performance or would you recommend changing head sails? Also where do you race and how are you doing. I have been racing Wed nights in Marblehead and have not been close to anyone. Would new sails (my sails are all 1981 vintage) make a big difference or is the boat really overmatched. (all of the boats in my class are bigger). Where are the other small hunters on Wed. eve. Come on out.

a stretched out main will contribute significantly to weather helm because the draft will be too far aft, making the sail a poor airfoil for going to weather. One possibility is a recut, but I should think that a twenty-year-old OEM sail is way overdue for the trash bin. Especially if it's been raced.
