I'm putting up the mast on a 1979 Hunter 25 for the first time on Friday. There are three connecting points on each side deck for one top stay and two side stays. Can someone tell me which goes where? The ice box looks like it has a drain that must go into the bilge, but it has been plugged. Does anyone use the drain? How has that worked out? The boat has a spinnaker with a pole, pole topping lift, and pole downhaul, but no spinnaker halyard. Has anyone modified their masthead for a third halyard? Thanks. Michael

Drain, spin

Yes, the drain goes into the bilge. If you use block ice, it will melt and drain. No biggie. Here's a spin bowsprit that will throw the spin away from the main, giving you beter angle on a broad and beam reach.
